Another CROWD PLEASER from Vermont Magic ! The magician casually displays a deck of cards, front and back. Holding the cards face down, he asks a spectator to touch the back of any card. It's a free choice, the spectator is even invited to change his mind. The selected card is clearly and openly cut to the top of the deck. The magician explains that in most card tricks, the card would now be returned to the deck and it would be his job to locate it. However, in this case, he is going to reveal how he finds the chosen card. He shows the card to the audience, without seeing it himself, and deals it face down on the table. He taps the deck on the chosen card and points out that it has a blue (or red) back. He then explains that the easiest way to find it in the deck is to change the color of all the other backs. He fans the cards again, showing that all the backs are now red (or blue). |
He goes on to explain that sometimes, when he's tired, he gets a bit color blind, and has trouble seeing the difference between red and blue backs. Taking a card from the deck, he flips over the selected card. He then states that in that case, he has to go a step further and change all the cards to the same value as the selected card, so it won't matter which card he picks. He then turns the fanned deck face up, and ALL the cards now match the selected card. And Remember, the spectator sees the entire back and face of the selected card, which can come from anywhere in the deck! |
